Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 4

For Four Weeks I will be posting on things about New Zealand. Today is the first day for the summer learning Journey and the title for today is In The Beginning ( 1800-1870).  Here are all the links for today's Activity's Waiata , Poi Rakau , Ki O Rahi How To Play , Kouru Taonga/ Knuckle Bones , Poi Toa Roupo , Nga Taonga Takaro (Traditional Maori Games) , Tamatea Arikinui , Te Iti Kahuragi , Te Puku O Te Ika 2014 Waiata Tira

Activity One: The Waiata- The song of your heart.
Search up Waiata And Choose a song the you like the most out of them and tell your viewer's why you like it the most.

I like Poi E the most because it reminds me of my Nana because she loved this song.

Activity Two: Playing Games
Choose one game, and on our blog, tell us the  Our Viewers the name of the game, the goal or purpose of the game, and two rules.
Yes I have played Koruru Taonga and I think it is a really cool game. Two rules of the game I don't think there are any rules it the game. but how to play and what you will need is this stuff to play.
What You Will Need :
  1. 5 stones the same size, similar to the size of a 20c coin
  2. Floor space

How to play :

Throw Stones up in the air.
Bonus Activity: Musical Festivals – Matatini
Watch 3 videos and rate them, then say why you rated them in that place.
1.Te Puku o Te Ika. Because it is a very sad video.
2. Te iti kahurangi. Because it is a very nice song.
3. Tamatea Arikinui. Because it  seem's like the boys don't know what they are doing.

  1. Hi there Nici

Well done on completing another Summer Learning Journey activity! I like how you included in your favourite waiata Poi E; that’s lovely that it has sentimental value to you about your nana. I see that you’ve found the lyrics and guitar chords as well. That’s awesome! Do you think you could include the link to where you found the lyrics from?

With activity #2, cool choice of games! I used to play knuckle bones games at school all the time and there are heaps of different games you can do with them! I’ve got a link here to a page with some different games that you could be interested in trying out! http://crazybonespedia.wikia.com/wiki/Knucklebones

Awesome job in ranking the kapa haka performances. I’m curious to know more about why you felt the way you did for each performance? Let me know in a comment! :)

I look forward to hearing from you Nici and keep up the blog posting!

    Cheers
    Jade F :)
