I Used The Flip so what I did was copy and paste the Item and then make it flipped around the other way and then with the colours we had to make them like summer type colours so I made it like a beach. They Yellow stands for the sun, The blue stands for the water, and the skin tone stands for the sand.

Activity 1. Getting Stronger
Aaradhna is a Samoan-Indian singer from New Zealand. As a girl, Aaradhna sang traditional Samoan and country songs with her family, eventually joining the senior choir at her high school (Porirua College). She gained international recognition in 2004 when she paired up with Adeaze to release the song, “Getting Stronger.” The song went to number one on the New Zealand Singles Chart and it is still one of my all-time favorites, to this day! Speaking of favorite songs, we would love to know who you listen to and what songs you like the most.

Activity 2.K-pop heroes
BTS, or Bangtan Boys, is a seven member boy band from South Korea. They have sold over 15 million albums in South Korea, which make them the best selling artists in South Korea of all time. They have topped the music charts in the United States of America and around the world. They began singing hip hop but now sing mostly K-Pop (Korean Pop). Most of their songs are sung in Korean - their first language.BTS is famous for making great music videos and for singing about topics that many people can relate to - love, self-confidence, etc. They have a huge and very loyal fan base. Their fans are called the BTS A.R.M.Y.

I like how they make songs that can make you feel positive about your self.

Bouns Activity.Girl Power
Jessica Mauboy is an Aboriginal Australian singer. She rose to fame when she was runner-up in the 2006 Australian Idol, and has gone on to record a number of very successful songs. She is a role model for both girls, and indigenous Australians as she has been so successful in her music and acting career.
Dame Kiri Te Kanawa is an opera singer from Aotearoa/New Zealand. She became one of the best sopranos (a female singer with a high voice) in the world. Dame Kiri Te Kanawa is Māori, however she was adopted when she was a baby and very little is known about her birth family.
For young singers, both of these women can serve as role models - people who have faced challenges and overcome them in order to achieve their dreams of becoming professional singers.

My role Model Billie Elish & my Parents

Billie is a singer that is not afraid to show her emotions. She posts music videos of her songs and she basically helps people know who they really are.
My Mum is a wonderful person that stays at home to look after me and my brothers while my dad is at work.

My Dad Is an owner of a company but he is the only one who drives all by him self to get our family money so we can buy food.

Activity 1. Through Careful Observation
There are many incredible people in history who have changed the world. Some have changed what we know about the world and about how it works. We often call these people ‘scientists’ or ‘theorists.’ Famous scientists include Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, Katherine Freese, Maria Goeppert Mayer, and Sau Lan Wu.

Each of these scientists came up with a new theory (idea) about how things work. Much of what they discovered came from observing (watching) things closely.

The image I chose

I see Stars and The sky is all swirly. I see waves and the statue of liberty.

Activity 2. Overcoming Adversity
Stephen Hawking (1942-2018) was an English scientist who was interested in studying the origin (beginning) of the universe. When he was just 21 years old, he was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease and, over time, he lost the ability to walk and talk. He needed to use a wheelchair to move around and a computer to help him to talk. The computer made his voice sound a bit funny but, most importantly, it meant he could still communicate with people. Despite his diagnosis, Stephen Hawking lived a long and very productive life. He showed great determination and perseverance because he didn’t let his physical challenges stop him. He didn’t quit. Instead, he ‘overcame the odds’ and achieved a huge amount in his life.

One day my dad decided to by a truck he bought the truck because I said that I could never be a doctor.

He went out at bought a truck because he wanted to prove there was no such thing as can't

He over came this by doing his best to get as much done as he can he is still over coming this challange but he is still working on it.

Bouns Activity.Hidden Figures
Ada Lovelace, born in 1815, is considered to be the ‘first computer programmer’, even though computers had not yet been invented. She was called a computer programmer because she worked out a series of algorithms (instructions) that a machine could use to compute (calculate) difficult maths questions.
Katherine Johnson was another brilliant mathematician who worked with NASA - the North American Space Association. NASA was responsible for sending rockets and people into space. It was Katherine’s job to check all of the calculations that the engineers and astronauts used when designing the spacecraft and flying them into space. In 2016, a movie was made about Katherine Johnson and the other women who worked at NASA during this time. It is called ‘Hidden Figures.’ In the movie, the women had to learn how to do basic coding when NASA started using computers.

Have you ever tried coding?

The Coding app was really good some of the activities got me stumped but I got through them with the help of mum and dad I had a lot of fun on this app and I suggest that many people should use it.

Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Day 2

Ki Ora Everyone for the next few weeks I will be posting blog posts continuously for something that is called the Summer Learning Journey. Today I am doing Week 2 Day 2. I will always put the links under this blurb so that you can go to the sites I had.

Activity 1. A Long Walk to Freedom
Nelson Mandela was an activist and civil rights leader who was born and raised in South Africa. For over 40 years (1948-1991), the country of South Africa had a political system called ‘apartheid’. This meant that there were different rules for people who had white skin than for those who didn’t. Nelson Mandela felt that this was very wrong and he fought for many years to change the law. Eventually he became the President of South Africa and ended apartheid, but not before spending 27 years in prison. In Robben Island prison (where Mandela spent 18 years), life was very tough. Mandela had a tiny, damp, concrete cell, with only a straw mat to sleep on. During the day he was forced to work in a quarry, breaking rocks into gravel. He was only allowed to see one visitor and receive one letter every six months. At night, Nelson read and studied to be a lawyer.
Monday.
Wow, this cell is really boring, I hate sleeping and sitting on this bed it doesn't feel right.

Sunday.
I WANT TO LEAVE AHHHHH
But today I finally got to have a shower it wasn't a propper shower it was just a hose down but its better than nothing just a few more Years to go I hope.

 Activity 2.School Strike for Climate
You may have heard people talking about an issue called ‘Climate change’. Climate change refers to an increase in the temperature of our planet. Warmer temperatures can cause natural disasters (floods, storms, droughts, bushfires, hurricanes, etc), rising sea levels, and the extinction (disappearance) of plants and animals.
Many people in New Zealand (and overseas) are worried about climate change, including Greta Thunberg, a 16 year old girl from Sweden. She believes that climate change is not only real, but that it is a “crisis”. She is upset that adults, particularly governments and powerful people, are not taking climate change seriously. In 2018 she began protesting outside the Swedish government buildings every Friday instead of going to school. She inspired the School Strike for Climate protests and, in 2019, spoke to the United Nations about her concerns. Not everyone, however, is convinced that climate change is really happening.

1. To not make any new oil and gas projects and that includes the Adani mine.
2. For us to try our absolute best to stop any type of coal
3. For every fossil-fuel workes helping them find a better job

What i do: I turn the lights off when I walk out of a room.
Bouns Activity.  “I Have a Dream”

Martin Luther King Jr was a Christian minister in the United States of America (USA) in the 1950s and 1960s. He spent much of his life fighting for equality (equal rights) for people of colour. At the time, there were laws that kept black and white people separated - they went to different schools, used different toilets, and even sat in different parts of a bus and ate in different areas of a restaurant. This was called ‘segregation.’Dr King did not agree with these laws and he led many protests against them. He was joined in his protests by many people, including an African American woman named Rosa Parks. In 1955, Rosa boarded a bus in Alabama (USA) and when the bus filled up with people, she refused to give up her seat to a white passenger. You can read about this famous incident here and watch a video about Rosa Parks here. The brave actions of people like Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks were instrumental in changing the way that African Americans (people of colour) were treated in the United States.
They had to be separated from the white people go to different schools then the white people and use separate toilets. One of the people there did not agree with the law and he and many others protested but there was one of the people that protested with him the most and her name was Rosa Parks. One day she was on a bus and the law was if a white person doesn't have a seat you had to give your seat to them but Rosa refused. Rosa then became well knowen and she made everyone be treated equally.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 2

Ki Ora Everyone for the next few weeks I will be posting blog posts continuously for something that is called the Summer Learning Journey. Today I am doing Week 1 Day 2. I will always put the links under this blurb so that you can go to the sites I had.

Activity 1.Flying Solo
Jean Batten was a famous aviator (pilot) who was born in Rotorua, New Zealand in 1909. In the 1930s she made several record-breaking solo flights (on her own) across the world. In fact, she was the first person to fly solo from England to New Zealand - a huge achievement! She also flew a number of long solo flights between England and Australia/Brazil. When she flew, she always took a silk dress with her so that she could look beautiful at the parties she attended upon her arrival.
Amelia Earhart was an American aviator who lived at about the same time as Jean Batten. Like Jean, she also flew solo. In fact, she was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She flew all the way from Canada to Northern Ireland on her own without stopping. In 1937, Amelia Earhart attempted to circumnavigate (go right around) the world. Unfortunately, the flight ended in tragedy when she disappeared near Howland Island, about halfway between Australia and Hawaii. She was never found.
(Found and made by me)

Activity 2. One Small Step For Man
Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and engineer. In 1969, Neil and his team of astronauts flew to the moon in a spacecraft called Apollo 11. When they arrived, Neil got out of the spacecraft and walked on the moon. He is the first person in history to walk on the moon! As Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, he famously said, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
As you can imagine, landing on the moon is a very dangerous task. Many things can go wrong, and a number of astronauts have died attempting to land on the moon. Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins (the three astronauts on Apollo 11) must have been extremely brave.
I always imagine that walking on the moon must be like jumping on the trampoline! Do you like jumping on a trampoline? My daughter Laila loves it!

Wow, I am the first person to ever step foot on the moon!
But I will have to go home soon.
It feels like I am in a car with no wheels.
It feels like my blood cells and popping.
I start walking without stopping.
Then I stop and start yawning.
I go back to the ship.
I take a nap,
Then go back to earth.

Bouns Activity.Miracle on the Hudson
Mr Chesley Sullenberger, or “Sully” as he was known, was an airline captain (pilot) for about 30 years. In 2009, he became world-famous when he landed his airplane in the middle of the Hudson River in New York City. He was forced to make an emergency landing when both of the engines in his airplane lost power. Amazingly, all 155 people on board the A320 plane survived the landing. This incredible event became known as the ‘Miracle on the Hudson.’ You can watch a video about it hereAlthough Sully must have been scared when the engines lost power, he didn’t show it. Instead, he stayed calm and saved the lives of everyone on board. What a brave man!
When my St john Divison was fundraising for getting a new ambulance my friend that I call a sister was approached and got told that a pregnant lady was getting her nails done and she went all faint and light-headed so Hannah-Mae went and helped her and me and a few others had to go and wait with another members mum and dad until Hannah-Mae and her mum got back to take us all back home.
When it happened we had just finished packing up for the day we all knew something was going to happen because the day was going perfect and no day when we are fundraising is perfect so that is when we all knew that something was going to happen.
Hannah-Mae was so brave and she wasn't scared to go and help her either. I would never be able to be that brave.

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 2

For The Weeks In The Holidays I Get To Do A Thing Called The Summer Learning Journey I Hope You Will Enjoy These Post Theses Are Only The Activity's For Today. Today Is Day 2 Of Week Four. Links: forests,Rotorua,eco-tourism,Rotorua Rotorua Canopy Tours Company, video, water quality, filters, cannot be found anywhere else,Fauna & Flora International, Lansan trees in the Caribbean, fruit forests in Tajikistan, national reserves in Mozambique, projects,

Activity 1: A Flying Fox
New Zealand has some of the most beautiful forests in the world. Both New Zealanders and tourists, alike, enjoy walking through these forests. Unfortunately, constantly walking through forests can damage the plants and animals (flora and fauna) that live there. In an attempt to protect the local flora and fauna, an eco-tourism company in Rotorua came up with an idea. The Rotorua Canopy Tours Company designed a series of ziplines that sit above the forest canopy (top). People can ‘zip’ from one section of the forest to another, looking down on the beautiful natural areas below. To see what ziplining looks like, check out this video.
I have tried ziplining and I really enjoyed it, however, I must admit that I was pretty scared to try it at first. How would you feel if you had the chance to go ziplining in Rotorua?
On your blog, tell us how you would feel about going ziplining in Rotorua. Try to use some descriptive words (adjectives) and action words (verbs) in your post!.

I Would Like To Go Zip Lining The Rotorua Because It Seems Amazingly Fun

Activity 2: A Protect Plant
There are concerns about the water quality of some of the rivers, streams and oceans in and around New Zealand. Some people have suggested that we plant flowers and plants on the banks of our most polluted rivers to stop the spread of the pollution. Apparently, the plants can act as filters, absorbing some of the chemicals (pollutants) that are moving across the land, on their way to the river.
Planting can be a lot of fun! Have you ever planted a garden? Aronui and I are going to make our very own edible garden this year. We are going to plant a number of veggies, fruits and herbs, including mint, coriander, parsley, lemongrass, onions, tomatoes, beans, zucchinis, kumara and strawberries. Yum! If you could plant an edible garden what would you plant in it?On your blog list 10 veggies, fruits, or herbs that you would plant in your garden.
1. Potato
2.Mint
3.Carrots
4. Chives
5. Onions
6.Sliver Beet
7. Radish
8. Strawberry
9. Cabbage
10. Lettuce

Bonus Activity: A House Is Not A Home
New Zealand is home to some unique wildlife that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. While we work very hard to protect our natural habitats so, too, do people living and working in other countries. One of the oldest international wildlife conservation organisations is called ‘Fauna & Flora International’ (FFI). They support a number of projects around the world, including those working to protect Lansan trees in the Caribbean, fruit forests in Tajikistan, and national reserves in Mozambique. Read about each of these projects and choose the one that interests you the most.
On your blog, tell us which project you find most interesting and why..
I Find Lansan Trees In The Caribbean Most Interesting Because It Is Belivied As A Evil Sprit

Summer Learning Journey Week 3 Day 2

For The Weeks In The Holidays I Get To Do A Thing Called The Summer Learning Journey I Hope You Will Enjoy These Post Theses Are Only The Activity's For Today. Today Is Day 2 Of Week Three. Links:bumblebee, pollinate,Red Clover,pollination,CO2 is absorbed, forests, oceans, carbon sinks, largest carbon sinks in New Zealand, mould and fungi,

Activity 1: Bee Informed
One of the most important, but least talked about, animals in New Zealand is the bumblebee. It was first introduced to New Zealand in 1885 to help pollinate a special plant called the ‘Red Clover.’ Today, bumblebees do many other important jobs, including the pollination of greenhouses and orchard crops. If the bees did not pollinate the plants, they would not survive.
For this activity, we would like you to bee-come detectives and to learn more about the mysterious, and often ignored, bumblebee. We will provide you with five sentences about bumblebees from the NZ Bumblebee Conservation Trust website and it is your job to fill in the blanks with the missing information about bees. Choose the phrase/word that makes the most sense from the list at the bottom. (Each phrase/word can only be used once).
To earn full points for this activity you must type all five sentences and then fill in the blanks for each one. Post the completed sentences on your blog.

          1. The word bumblebee is a compound word (bumble+bee) the word bumble means to hum buzz or drone
2.bumblebees can fly very quickly. they can reach the ground at 90 kilometres per hour
3. bumblebees are very strong they carry up to 50 of their body weight in food with them to avoid starvation
4. Bumblebees can do more work and carry more pollen than other bees including honey bees In fact they can do up to 54 times as work as a normal honey bee.
5. The number of bumblebees is declining in New Zealand due to a number of factors including the removal of wildflowers and flowering trees, habitat loss, and extensive use of pesticides.

Activity 2:Carbon Sinks Don't Stink!
Every day a chemical compound called carbon dioxide (CO2) is produced and released into the air.  If it isn’t removed, it can become toxic for humans. Fortunately, there are a number of places where CO2 is absorbed (removed from the air). Two of the most common places are forests and oceans. They are called ‘carbon sinks’ because, like a sink, they gather, clean and drain things away that we don’t want. One of the largest carbon sinks in New Zealand is a forest in the south-western part of the South Island. It drains away 60% of our Unwanted carbon

Let’s imagine that you could design a sink that could gather up and then drain away any foods that you don’t like. On your blog, tell us what you would put in your special sink. If it was me, I would put rice pudding, brussel sprouts, custard, parsnips, and seafood chowder in the sink. Yuck! What about you?
On your blog, list all of the foods that you would put in your special draining sink..
I Would Put In
  • Carrots
  • Bananas
  • Christmas Cake

Bonus Activity:Flying Fungi

n the middle of winter it can get quite wet and damp in New Zealand, can’t it? When it gets really damp, it is common for things like mould and fungi to start to grow. We can often see them on the walls, ceilings or floors of our houses or outside on footpaths, buildings or roadways. Some types of mould and fungi are so small that they can’t be seen. Some of these tiny fungi/mould can be found in the air. They are called ‘airborne fungi’ and they can be unhealthy for us.
Let’s imagine that we tested the air in your classroom and found 7 different kinds of mould. Eek! The cleaner says that it takes 5 days for each mould to be eradicated (removed). If the school had to remove each mould one at a time, how long would it take to remove all the mould from the classroom?
On your blog, tell us how you would solve this tricky maths problem. Be sure to also post your final answer in days or weeks.
