Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day One Activity 2

Hey everyone welcome back for the next few weeks i will be doing the summer learning journey and I will be posting all the activity's I do. Today Is Week 1 Day 1 and this activity is The second activity.( I did this activity on wensday the 16th because I wasn't able to do it on the 14th) I hope you enjoy these blog posts and let me know if I could do anything better. Thank you, Have a good Day, Good-Bye

So for this activity I decided to make a Butterfly.
To make this I went around the front and back of my house and found leaves that could be useful and then I also found some sticks. Once I had all my items I got one of the little sticks I had found and cut it in half to make the antennas, then I got my bigger stick and used that for the body. So then because I had found some big and small leaves I used the big ones to be the top wing, and the bottom wings are the smaller wings.

I hope you like my creation.

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 1

Ki Ora Everyone for the next few weeks I will be posting blog posts continuously for something that is called the Summer Learning Journey. Today I am doing Week 4 Day 1. I will always put the links under this blurb so that you can go to the sites I had.
Links: J. K. ROWLINGHARRY POTTER SERIES OF BOOKSBILLIONAIREJ. K. RowlingOprah WinfreyWilliam ShakespeareAnne FrankAnne

Activity 1.Rags to Riches

J. K. Rowling is one of the most well-known authors in the world. She wrote the Harry Potter series of books. Over 500 million copies of her books have been sold, making J. K. Rowling the world’s first billionaire author.

While she was writing the first Harry Potter book, she was a single mum with very little money. She used to write while her daughter Jessica was asleep. She used her initials ‘J.K.’ instead of her name (Joanne) because her publisher thought that boys might not want to read a book written by a woman.
J. K. Rowling has done many interviews that have revealed things about her as a writer and as a person. One of these interviews was conducted by a very famous television personality, Oprah Winfrey (you can find more about her on Day 3, Activity 1!).

As well as books needing to be engaging and interesting for the reader, it is important that they are engaging and interesting on the cover too. We sometimes say “Don’t judge a book by its cover” but we often choose books (if we don’t know much about them) when they have an attractive cover!

Activity 2Romeo and Juliet
William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was an author, poet, and playwright. He is best known for the plays that he wrote while living in England in the 16th Century. Although they were written a long time ago, they are still popular because they talk about things that are familiar to us - love, revenge, confusion, betrayal, jealousy, hurt, etc. You might have heard of some of his plays: Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, King Lear. Many of them have also been made into movies. Shakespeare wrote his plays in English, however, it is not the same version of English that we have now. In fact, many of the words that we use today, in 2019, weren’t used back in 1600 (and vice versa).

English
This morning I woke and sat watching tv for a little bit then I got up and made me and two of my friends breakfast we all had cereal. Then I went and had a shower. When I got out of the shower the two girls were on the computer so I started to do the summer learning journey and listen to music.

Traslation
This m'rning i did wake and satteth watching tv f'r a dram did bite then i did get up and madeth me and two of mine own cater-cousins breakfast we all hadst c'real.  Then i wenteth and hadst a showeth'r.  At which hour i did get out of the showeth'r the two girls w're on the comput'r so i did start to doth the summ'r learning journey and hark to music

Bouns Activity. The Diary of Anne Frank
Anne Frank was a very brave girl. She was born and raised in a Jewish family in Germany in the 1930s. When World War II started, Anne and her family were forced to hide because the German politicians (Nazis) did not like Jewish people. She and her family hid out in a secret room in their house for two full years. During this time, Anne wrote in a diary. When the war ended, Anne’s dad found the diary and made it into a book. He called it The Diary of Anne Frank or The Diary of a Young Girl.I know lots of people who keep a diary. Often they will record what they did during the day or recount stories about special events that have taken place.

Dear Diary
Today is Wednesday the 25th December 2019 and it is Christmas day
as I walked out to the lounge to sit with my brothers and wait for mum and dad I saw an electric scooter that had my name on it I was really excited because I have always wanted one.
Mood: Very happy

Activity 1.The World Wide Web
You may not have heard of Tim Berners-Lee but this man completely changed the world for us when he invented the World Wide Web (otherwise known as the ‘www’). All of the information on the internet is stored and accessed on the web. Tim BL, as he is known, also created the first-ever website. We all spend a lot of time looking at websites, don’t we? One of my favorite websites is the Te Ara site. I use it when I am creating lessons for students or working on assignments for school. Are there websites that are particularly helpful for your learning?

Activity 2. Influencers
YouTube is a video-sharing website, where people can watch, create, share and comment on videos (a bit like when you Learn, Create and Share at school). YouTube was created in 2005 by three men - Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim who later sold it to Google for $1.65 billion dollars! Did you know that anyone can have their own YouTube channel? People who create videos and post them on YouTube are called ‘YouTubers’. Youtubers post videos on a huge range of topics from music to make-up, fitness to cooking, etc. Most YouTubers create their own Youtube channel. People can subscribe to their channels and follow their videos. Do you watch or subscribe to any YouTube channels? If so, who are your favorite YouTubers? In New Zealand, there are many Youtubers, including Kiwi beauty YouTuber Miria Flavell and guitar guru, Nat Pua.
I would create a Reacting page because you can react to anything on it.

My description would go like this
Hey everyone welcome to the channel my name is Nici and each day I react to something new. I hope you enjoy these videos if you do please share them with your friends.
Bouns Activity.Apple vs Microsoft
Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are two big names in the field of digital technology. Bill Gates is the founder of Microsoft while Steve Jobs was a co-founder of Apple. Both men are very creative and inventive. In fact, Steve Jobs invented the Apple computer, iPod, iPhone, and iPad. Sadly, he passed away in 2011.Bill Gates, on the other hand, invented Microsoft software, like Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. He is now one of the richest people in the world, and with his wife, Melinda, has created a charity called The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Both men worked in the same field (digital technology) and were seen as competitors or rivals. They are not the only rivals in the world. In fact, some of the most famous rivalries occur between sports teams. One example is the rivalry between the All Blacks and the Wallabies rugby teams.

Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Day 1

Activity 1. Playing Favourites

Barack Obama was the President of the United States of America (USA) from 2009 - 2017. He made history as the first African American person to be elected President of the USA. Barack Obama was born in Hawaii. His father was from Kenya, Africa, and his mother was American. His parents divorced when he was young and his father died in a car crash when Barack was 21 years old. As a young man, Barack studied law at university which is where he met his wife, Michelle. Together, Barack and Michelle have spent much of their adult lives helping others and giving back to their community. When they are not at work, they can be found doing their favorite things, including spending time with their family, playing with their dog, or going to the gym. What do you like to do for fun? Do you also enjoy spending time with family? Do you have a special pet?

1.St John

2. Spending time with my family

3. Spending time with my boy best friend

4. Seeing my old teachers

( I don't know why this photo↑is upside down)

5. Singing with my friends

Activity 2. (this one didn't have a name)

Dr Jessa Roger (Metuamate) is a Aborignal Australian and a leader in indigenous education. She grew up in Queensland, Australia, and when she had a baby while she was still at school, it seemed like her education would suffer. However, Jessa not only completed her high school education, but she went on to University and completed several degrees, including a PhD which means she is called Dr Rogers!Dr Jessa Rogers became the first school principal (and youngest Aboriginal principal in Australia) of the Cape York Girl Academy, a school in far north Queensland for young indigenous mums and their babies. For her work on improving indigenous education in Australia, she won the NAIDOC Youth of the Year award in 2010, has gone on to win many more awards and write several books.Dr Rogers is a proud member of the Wiradjuri people, an Indigenous community in Australia, and has a strong connection to New Zealand. In fact, her husband is affiliated with two iwi in New Zealand - Ngāti Kauwhata, Ngāti Raukawa, and he is also of Cook Island and Tahitian decent. Jessa is currently working at the University of Canberra as an assistant professor.

She would have been 25
I worked this out by counting out the years and took note of when her birthday was to work out if her birthday was before or after she won it.

Bonus Activity.‘Dear Jacinda’

The Right Honorable Jacinda Ardern is the current Prime Minister (PM) of New Zealand (NZ). You might have heard of her because she’s in the news a lot! Did you know that she is the second youngest person and the second woman ever to be elected PM of NZ?As PM, Jacinda Ardern makes a number of important decisions every day. Before she makes these decisions, she meets with many people to hear their ideas and get their perspectives (views) on issues.Let’s imagine you were to write a letter to Jacinda Ardern about an issue that is really important to you, and to ask her for help. It could be something serious to do with education, health or welfare, or it could be something more fun and crazy - you decide!

Dear Jacinda

I think that we should be banning anything plastic.
Because we are always using plastic and some people don't through it out they just drop it on the ground, as you know plastic is one of the main things ever to kill sea life.

Another reason I think we should ban plastic is that it can harm us. Say when we unripe something like glad wrap some people drop it on the floor and make other people trip up and when they put it in the bin and walk away another person walks by and puts another peice of rubbish in the bin and more falls out.

If you can please try and fix this it would be great.

Kind Regards
Nici

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 1

Ki Ora Everyone for the next few week I will be posting blog post continuously for something that is called the Summer Learning Journey. Today I am doing Week 1 Day 1. I will always put the links under this blurb so that you can go to the sites I had.
Activity 1. Setting Sail
People from Pacific nations have always been expert explorers and navigators. In the past, they used the stars, sun and ocean swells to find their way (navigate) around the Pacific Ocean. Master navigator, Nainoa Thompson, has used the ancient Polynesian wayfinding skills to navigate around the world. In 2013, Nainoa led a crew across the Pacific Ocean on two large canoes (Hokule’a and Hikianalia). The crew stopped off in Aotearoa, New Zealand in 2015 on their journey and visited the Manaiakalani Schools in Auckland. Here is a short video about Polynesian navigation. It describes the different ways ancient Polynesian navigators used the natural world to find their way around vast oceans. Incredible!I think that it would be difficult to be ‘at sea’ for weeks at a time. I would miss my family but I would also enjoy the adventure. Let’s imagine that you were invited to join Nainoa for three weeks at sea. As part of the journey, you have to pack your own food.

1. Pasta: Because it can't dry out on you
2. Caned vegetables: Because it can keep you healthy
3. Caned Fruit: because the can't go off
4.Bread: because it is dry and it was wash down all the liquid in your body
5.Meat: Because it is a good thing for you to eat only if you cook it or have anyway to cook it
6.Cheese: Because you could put it over you pasta or just eat it how ever you want
7.Milk because it is one of the best things you can drink
8. Rice because it is a food you could eat raw or cooked
9.Eggs because you could eat them raw but it tastes really weird
10.Sauce: because you can put it over most of your food

Activity.2:Discovering Aotearoa
Many people believe that Kupe was the first explorer to discover Aotearoa, New Zealand in about 1300. He navigated his way by waka to Aotearoa from Hawaiki using traditional Polynesian navigation techniques - just like Nainoa Thompson (from Activity 1) did much later on. Legend says that he followed a great octopus all the way to Aotearoa/New Zealand and finally destroyed it in Cook Strait (the water between the North and South Islands). Many years later, a Dutch explorer from The Netherlands, Abel Tasman, was exploring the Pacific Ocean when he came across New Zealand. He thought that he was the first person to ‘discover’ the country (despite the fact that Māori already lived in New Zealand!) and made the claim in 1642 that he had ‘discovered’ a new land. His exploration of New Zealand inspired many other European explorers to follow his lead and travel to the OceaniaKupe and Abel Tasman were two different men from two very different backgrounds (cultures) who shared a common interest - exploration.
Well my Dad's side Ornateness from Germany but we are not to sure about my mum's side so we are just saying her family is from new Zealand no where else.
About Germany: It has many places there like Berlin, Hamburg and more.
( Found at Wikipedia)
About New Zealand:It is where i have lived for 12 years and i have never wanted to leave

Bonus Activity:Scaling New Heights
Sir Edmund Hillary and his sherpa (guide), Tenzing Norgay, were the first people to reach the summit of Mt Everest, the tallest mountain in the world in 1953. At the time, Edmund Hillary was an apiarist (beekeeper) from Auckland, New Zealand. During the summer he worked as a beekeeper, and during the winter, he climbed mountains. Becoming the first person to summit Everest was not easy. In fact, Edmund Hillary attempted (tried) to climb to the top of Mt Everest three times before he succeeded. He was determined to reach the top! While this famous explorer and climber is mostly remembered for being the first person to reach the summit of Mt Everest, he has also made a huge impact on the world through his charity work. In 1960, Sir Edmund Hillary set up the Himalayan Trust to bring education, healthcare and safe drinking water to the people of Nepal - the country where Mt Everest is located.

SPCA: Rescues Animals from all sorts of situations. They take care of the animals they give them health care they feed them. Then when the animals are healthy the re-home them.

One of my dogs Mercedes was a SPCA dog we went in and brag her home she was my best friend and she always was helpful but she sadly passed away.

Here Is a photo of her.
