Activity 1.Talk Show Host
Oprah Winfrey is a bit of a television legend! She is best known for her talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show which ran for 25 years. Some people have said that she is one of the most influential women in the world. She is certainly very successful and has spent a lot of time helping others. Like so many others, Oprah had to work very hard for her success. She had to overcome challenges and she experienced many struggles during her life, however, she persisted and eventually became a radio presenter, TV news presenter, and daytime talk show host. She now owns her own production company (HARPO), and television station (OWN). She also produces a magazine called ‘O.’ Oprah is passionate about education. She believes in the power of learning and has even started her own school in South Africa called The Oprah Winfrey Leadership School for Girls. She is keen to provide young people with opportunities to follow their passions.

When I finish High school I will be going to college because I want to be a doctor when I am older. Once I finish Collage I will go into working but also keep studying. I hope to work at KFC or something like that. Then once I completely finish my studding I will go and try get a job as a doctor.

Activity 2.Plot Points
Lupita Nyong’o is a Mexican-Kenyan actress. She spent most of her childhood living in Kenya, Africa with her family. She is one of six children. When she graduated from high school, she decided to move to the United States of America to follow her dreams of becoming an actress. She was cast in her first American film, East River, in 2008. She went on to write, produce and star in a number of films, including Black Panther and 12 Days a Slave, for which she won the 2013 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress (otherwise known as an ‘Oscar’). Not only did Lupita win the Oscar but she was the first ever Kenyan and/or Mexican woman to win the award. Amazing ‘eh?!Over the past few years Lupita has continued to act, she has earned a masters degree from Yale University and has written a children’s book called Sulwe. She has also written and produced her own movies.
My movie title: The Villians
Charters: Evil Queen, Maleficent Cruella DeVille, Thanos, Sandman
Cast: Kathy Najimy, Kristin Chenoweth, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Josh Brolin, Thomas Haden Church
What It's about: They Tell you their storys about what they did as a  child and why they became a villian

Bouns Actvity:Feast or Famine
Julian Dennison is a very funny guy! He is from Lower Hutt, near Wellington. He is only 17 years old but he has already starred in a number of movies and TV commercials. You may have seen him on Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Deadpool, or in the Lynx ads.Julian is not only a funny actor. He recently joined up with World Vision to be a 40 Hour Famine Ambassador. He travelled with World Vision to Uganda to meet some of the refugees from South Sudan who are living there. Check out this video.

I would do the 40 hour Famine because you can raise money for the fires In Australia. I would also do it so that we can send food to all the people that need it if they are affected by the fires. If I would do It I would go 40 hours with out devices because I am always on my devices and it is one off my main things I need to stop. I would raise money for the fires because I have family their and I want them to stay safe. I think I would enjoy it.

Activity 1. Nanogirl
Michelle Dickinson, AKA “Nanogirl”, is a nanotechnologist. That is an engineer or scientist who works with very small items called “molecules.” Michelle is famous for creating cool shows about science which she performs in schools around New Zealand. When she isn’t performing, she is working as a scientist in her own lab in Auckland. Over the years she has written two books and won many awards including the New Zealand Women of Influence in Innovation and Science Award and The New Zealand Order of Merit for her innovative work. Like Michelle, many people in New Zealand like to create nano-sized (tiny) things. Some people even like to build tiny houses.

One day I might live in a tiny house because they can be really pretty and can hold many things that the name doesn't really state.

Activity 2.Printing Prosthetics
In 1983 a man named Chuck Hull invented the first 3D printer. A 3D printer follows a design that has been created on a computer. The printer simply ‘prints out’ the design in layers, often using a material like plastic.3D printing has changed the way we are designing and manufacturing (creating) all sorts of things. It is possible to 3D print parts for machines, buildings, and even humans! If you have ever broken an arm and needed a plaster cast you will know that they’re not much fun to wear - especially in summer! Here in New Zealand, a man named Jake Evill has designed a lighter 3D printed plaster cast that is strong, recyclable, waterproof, and ventilated (let’s air in). Check out his design here.
That I learned
1. That some people are born with a disease that gives them no finger or palm (etc.)
That Surprised me
1.They Give them out for free the cost nothing.

Bouns Activity.Need for Speed
We have had many inventors here in New Zealand who have created things that have changed the world. Two of these inventors were Bill Hamilton (1899-1978) and John Britten (1950-1995).Bill Hamilton grew up on a farm in the South Island of New Zealand. One of his first inventions was a tow rope to pull skiers up a ski field. His most famous invention, however, is the development of the modern jet boat engine. It allows boats, like the Huka Falls Jet, to travel at lightning speed along rivers. Bill Hamilton invented the jet boat to solve a problem.John Britten, on the other hand, loved to rebuild vehicles, including motorbikes. He set up the Britten Motorcycle Company from his garage in Christchurch, New Zealand. One of his bikes, the V1000, won a number of international races and set a world speed record for going 304km per hour! Wow! Now that is fast…!

The car I drew looks like this I got a little bit of help from my dad tho

Activity 1.The Right to Vote
Kate Sheppard was a very famous and important New Zealander. In the late 1800s, she fought for women to have the right to vote in elections. She did this by creating petitions (lists with the names of people who supported her), running public meetings, writing letters to the newspaper, and talking to politicians. As a result of her hard work, women in New Zealand (NZ) were first granted the right to vote in 1893. This made NZ the first country in the world to give women the right to vote. We call this right ‘women’s suffrage’.In honor of Kate Sheppard’s work, the NZ government has put her image on the current $10 note.

I think if they were to change the person on the $10 note I think they should change it to Valerie Adams Because she gave all new Zealand girls hope because she got in the Olympics and she has won many competitions throughout the Olympics.

Image result for Valerie Adams

Activity 2. The Right to an Education
Malala Yousafzai is a woman who was born and raised in Pakistan. In 2012, she was shot and wounded when traveling home on the bus from school. At the time, girls (and women) living in Pakistan were not encouraged or even allowed, to go to school. It is widely believed that Malala was attacked because she (and her father) did not agree with this idea and they felt that women had the right to an education. Once Malala recovered from her injuries she continued to advocate (fight) for the rights of all women to receive an education. For this work, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 - the youngest person to ever receive this prestigious prize. You can read more of her story hereAs well as giving speeches in front of many very important and influential people, Malala has written books about her own life. She has also written a book for children called Malala’s Magic Pencil.
Starting Year 8
1.For the year coming I will be starting year eight.
2. It will be kind of scary for me because I will have a lot of pressure on me because I will need to get my math knowledge up.
3. I am also excited to start year eight because it is a new journey for me.
4. Many reasons I am excited for next year is I can make new friends, I can also learn new things as well.
5. I think it will be a big step for me because of what happened this year.
6. I've been thinking through the holidays on what I can do better for next year.
7. I've thought of choosing friends that won't get me in trouble and picking better places to sit and get my work done.
8. I can also take every opportunity that gets offered to me, to make sure I do the best that I can.
9. I also can do everything that I can do to get the st John hours up so I can get my 200-hour badge.
10. I can also put my st john learning into my school learning by if we get health questions I can try my best to answer them.
Bouns Activity.Belle of the Ball
Emma Watson is a movie star who started acting in films when she was just nine years old. You might recognize her as Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter films or ‘Belle’ from the Disney adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. When Emma is not acting, she spends a lot of time giving speeches and advocating for the rights of women and girls. In 2014 she launched the HeForShe campaign which encourages men and boys to actively support women and girls by speaking out about gender equality - the idea that males (men) and females (women) have the same rights. Emma is also an avid reader who started her own worldwide book club! Let’s imagine that Emma has just emailed you and asked for your help. She needs a recommendation for a great book for her book club. She also needs you to prepare a short review of the book to share with her readers.
I chose the book, Matilda, by Roald Dahl
I Chose this book because it is a really good book and it was really funny. The book is about a little girl named Matilda who's Mum and Dad don't really care about her. When she was six she first started school and when she was outside of the school it's self her principal came out and grabbed a girl's pigtails and threw her over the fence. I liked this book because it shows you how much you are really lucky that your mum and dad really do care for you.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 3

Ki Ora Everyone for the next few weeks I will be posting blog posts continuously for something that is called the Summer Learning Journey. Today I am doing Week 1 Day 3. I will always put the links under this blurb so that you can go to the sites I had.
Activity 1. Rugby Superstars
Jonah Lomu was a rugby superstar. He was the youngest ever All Black, selected at just 19 years of age. He went on to have an amazing career that included 63 caps (international games) and 37 tries. Jonah was Tongan, but spent most of his childhood in Mangere, South Auckland. He started out playing touch rugby and rugby league but changed over to rugby union and quickly made a name for himself. He was very tall, strong and fast. Richie McCaw is another example of a famous rugby player. He was the captain of the All Blacks between 2004 and 2015. Like Jonah Lomu, he had an outstanding international career in rugby union and had many achievements. In fact, he was the most capped All Black captain, most capped test rugby player and World Rugby Player of the Year in 2006, 2009, and 2010. He has been given a Halberg Award and made a member of the Order of New Zealand. As well as being an outstanding player, Richie McCaw was also a strong leader and captain. For many people, players like Jonah Lomu and Richie McCaw are superheroes with extra special ‘superpowers.’
1.Mind Reading
Reason: I would like this power because I know if someone is talking about me behind my back
Why: I choose this power because if I want to know if someone doesn't like me but can't tell me to my face I can find out by reading their mind
2.
Flying
Reason: Because if I can't get away from someone that I don't want to be around because they might bully me or my friends I can just fly away
Why: Because it can help me get away from people I don't want to be around
3.Invisibility
Reason: Because if I don't want someone to see me I can make myself disappear
Why: Because if I didn't want to be around someone I could just make myself disappear
Activity 2.Defying the Odds
LeBron James is one of the most famous professional basketball players in the world. He currently plays in the NBA (National Basketball Association) for the Los Angeles Lakers. He has won numerous awards over the years, helping his teams win many important games. Steven Adams also plays in the NBA, but unlike LeBron, Steven comes from Rotorua, New Zealand and is the half-brother of Olympic gold medalist Valerie Adams. That’s a pretty cool family connection, isn’t it?! Steven Adams currently lives in the United States and plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball teamDespite being born in different countries, these two incredible basketballers have a number of similarities. Both men came from humble beginnings. Neither of their families had a lot of money, and neither man grew up with a father at home. Even though they faced challenges, they were able to overcome them. Both men are examples of what is possible when you work hard and believe in yourself.

LeBron James
  1. Why did you start playing basketball?
  2. If you could describe this year of basketball what would it be?
  3. How did you think you did this year?
  4. Did you love this season?
  5. Did this year make you learn anything new?

Bouns Activity. Achieving our Dreams
The Silver Ferns are New Zealand’s professional netball team. They are based in Auckland and play against teams from all over the world. Next year they are due to compete in the first-ever Netball Nations cup competition in England.
In order to earn a place on the team, each of the players had to prove that they were one of the best netball players in the country. They have all had to work very hard, sacrifice many things, and show dedication and determination throughout their careers. In many cases, they have also had a lot of support from others - their family, friends, teachers, coaches. This support has allowed them to pursue their dreams and, ultimately, do a job that they love.

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 3

For The Weeks In The Holidays I Get To Do A Thing Called The Summer Learning Journey I Hope You Will Enjoy These Post Theses Are Only The Activity's For Today. Today Is Day 3 Of Week Four. Links:predators,Predator Free by 2050,Cacophony Project,Taranaki Mounga Project,Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP),Māui Dolphin, extinction, extinct by 2033,link, link,Sir David Attenborough,interview,10 species,Black Lion Tamarin, Sumatran Rhino, Solenodon, Olm Salamander,Spatuletail Hummingbird,Darwin’s Frog ,Sunda pangolin,Priam’s Birding Butterfly ,Northern Quoll ,Venus’s Flower Basket,

Activity 1:Predator Free 2050 – A Call to Arms
There is currently a huge drive to get rid of all predators from New Zealand. Predators are animals that, in some way, damage our natural environment. Many organisations are working hard to accomplish this goal.

Click on the links below to watch videos about three of the current projects operating to make New Zealand ‘Predator Free by 2050.’
Predator Free Video #1: Cacophony Project
Predator Free Video #2: Taranaki Mounga Project
Predator Free Video #3: Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP)

On your blog, tell us which one of the videos you liked the best and why..

I Liked Predator Free Video #1 Cacophony Project Because It Is About A Person That Only Catches Predators Not Other Animals

Activity 2:Protecting the Most Vulnerable - Fact or Fiction?
Here in New Zealand we have a native dolphin, the Māui Dolphin, that is on the verge of extinction (disappearing forever). As of this year, there are only 63 Māui dolphins left and people predict that they will be extinct by 2033. Environmentalists and activists, including the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), are working hard to save the dolphin because it is such a special and unique animal. To learn more about the Māui Dolphin, please follow this link. If you would like to sign a petition from the WWF encouraging the New Zealand government to take action to save the Maui Dolphin, please follow this link.
Once you have learned more about this unique dolphin, it is time for you to share your learning with us.
On your blog, post three facts that you learned about the Māui Dolphin. Then, using your imagination, create three more statements about Māui dolphins that are not true (i.e. false). Please don’t tell us which of your statements about Māui Dolphins are true and which are false. It will be the job of the students and staff who read your blog to figure it out.
1. Is The Rarest and smallest known Subspecies of dolphin
2. They Can Swim Upside Down
3. They Are Only Found New Zealand's North Islands
4. The word "Māui" in the dolphin's name comes from Te Ika-a-Māui, the Māori name for New Zealand's North Island.
5. They Can Talk To Each Other By Moving Their Finns
6. They Can Act Dead

Bonus Activity: The Power Of Ten
Sir David Attenborough is a famous TV presenter from England who loves nature and the natural world. He has spent his career filming documentaries about the planet and working hard to protect it. In a recent interview, Sir David was asked to reflect on all that he had learned and to imagine that he had suddenly been given the power to save 10 animals and/or plants from extinction (disappearing forever).
After thinking about the question, he listed these 10 species (animals/plants):
1. Black Lion Tamarin
2. Sumatran Rhino
3. Solenodon
4. Olm Salamander
5. Spatuletail Hummingbird
6. Darwin’s Frog
7. Sunda pangolin
8. Priam’s Birding Butterfly
9. Northern Quoll
10. Venus’s Flower Basket

Let’s imagine that you had the same power and that you could save 10 species (animals or plants) from extinction. Who would you save? If I had the choice I would probably save animals like the elephant, white tiger and rhinoceros because they are unique and have lived for centuries on earth. I would also like to save some of my favourite flowers including hydrangeas and calla lily flowers. What about you?
On your blog, list 10 species (animals or plants) that you would protect from extinction. For each one, give a reason as to why you think it is important to protect.
1. Breeds Of Lions: I Think They Should Be Saved Because They Take Away Threats In The Wild Life And They Are Awesome To Look At
2. Breeds Of Tigers: I Think They Should Be Saved Because The Same Reason And The Lions
3. Venus Flytraps: I Think They Should Be Saved Because Eat The Flies So They Don't Annoy Us
4. Giraffes: I Think They Should Be Saved Because People Just Kill Them For Their Tails
5. Cats: I Think They Should Be Saved Because They Keep The Mice Away From Our Homes
6. Cheetahs: I Think They Should Be Saved Because They Can Eat The That Can Hurt Us
7. Gorillas: I Think They Should Be Saved Because Poachers Are Always Trying To Kill Them For Things On Their Body
8. Dogs: I Think They Should Be Saved Because They Can Protect Us From Robbers And For All The Love They Give Us And To Keep Them Safe From People That Use Them For Dog Fighting
9. Breeds Of Moneys:I Think They Should Be Saved Because They Can Also Keep Us Away From Predators And They Are Funny To Watch
10. Pandas:I Think They Should Be Saved Because They Are Already Come To Extinction especially The Giant Pandas
