Science & Math

 Hello everyone welcome back, for the past week we have been learning about house plans I hope you enjoy my work have a wonderful day. Good-Bye

Aim: To put together some of the ideas we had learnt 

Method: The house plan I picked was house "A" and I had 7 bulbs. Below is a photo of my work. 







Result: the results of my ohm's law working out is this:
Volts 
Path one: 200 Electrons (There was only one bulb in this row so that's why its still 200)
Path two:66.67 Electrons (there were 3 in this row so that is what makes it 66.67 because they all had to go around all three bulbs so they each got 66.67) 
Path three:50.00 Electrons (This one had another 3 but the reason why it is 50 not 66.67 is because they all went down different paths so they had to split up and then they still had to make sure there was enough to go through each 3 bulbs so that's why the all got 50 in each bulb)

Part 2 of result:
then we had to find out what the amp's were so here is my working out:
Path one: 200 divided by 25 = 8 So there were 8 amp's in this path
Path two: 200 divided by 75 = 2.67 so there were 2.67 in this path 
Path three: 200 divided by 100= 2 so there were to amp's in it 


Discussion:The term voltage means:a force difference expressed in volts. The term Current means how quickly the electrons move around a circuit. The Term resistance means it pushes back against the current. I did the Calculation's by using the ammeter and voltmeter. My calculation's tell me about my house plan and my circuit because they show me that the light bulbs in houses are the same as a circuit online or someone who drew it. The calculation's make sense to me. 


conclusion: I enjoyed this activity at the start it was a little bit confusing to me but then I got the hang of it. If I were to do it again it would do some thing differently like I would do a different house plan or I would  do a different about of light bulbs.

Current is how quickly the electrons move they are measured in amps and the symbol is a I


Definition Of Voltage: It is how much energy the electrons are carrying, they are measured in volts and the symbol Is V


Definition of Resistance: It is used to slow/resist flow of electrons(Current) They are Measured in OHMS and the symbol is R

Energy transformations

What is energy transformations?

It is when energy is passed from one type to another.


There are eight types of energy these are the energy's

1. Kinetic- it is what makes things move

2. Chemical Potential- It is the energy from food and fuel 

3.Heat- It is the amount of energy based on temperature 

4. Light- Waves that are reflected so that is what makes you see light 

5. Gravitational- Its the effect of gravity pushing down 

6. Elastic potential- It is anything that you can stretch so it loads up with energy 

7. Electrical-Anything that used power 

8. Sound- waves can hear 


Marshmallow cannons

Step 1. Cut the base out of a cup

Step 2. Stretch a balloon 

Step 3. 1/2 way down the balloon neck cut it 

Put the balloon over where you cut the hole. 

Then enjoy using your Marshmallow cannon 


What energy's were used. 

The energy's that were used where 

Sound energy - This energy was used by when we pulled the balloon and let go it made a big bang 

Elastic energy- We used elastic energy because we had to stretch the balloon out

Gravitational potential -Gravitational was used because when the marshmallow fell down it was gravity pulling it down 

Kinetic- This one was used by when the marshmallow was moving 


What we did the them 

We took our cannons out side and launched the balloons with the marshmallows in them

Chromatography

  Hey everyone welcome back today in Science we were learning about Chromatography. I hope you enjoy my blog have a wonderful day Good-Bye


What is Chromatography?
It is the process of separating a mixture based on the pigments 


What are pigments?
  They are a substance that gives colour to things. They are used to give colour to all sorts of things like felts, paints, plastic, food ect. In other words they are particle  


Experiment 

Our aim of the experiment is to separate the different pigments from ink using chromatography 


Hypothesis: 
I think that they will separate and it will change colours 


Method:

1. Draw a line across the filter paper in pencil, 5cm from the bottom

2. Draw a coloured dot in the center of the line. 

3. Measure out 10mL of water and place in the test tube 

4. place the filter paper in the test tube and fold over the side 
MAKE SURE THE PENCIL LINE/DOT IS NOT IN THE WATER 

5. wait 5 minutes and observe the results.


Equipment:

Felt tip pen, filter paper strips, test tube, measuring cylinder, pencil,

When we did the experiment the colour moved up and it looked very cool i couldnt get a photo of it sorry

Science- Concentration and Dilution

Definition:
Concentration means how much solute has been dissolved in the solvent in other words  how much solute there is in the solution.  We can measure this in two ways which is how dilute something is(How weak it it) or How concentrated
 it is (how Strong it is) 


Aim: carry out a serial dilution with potassium permanganate 

Experiment:

In today's Experiment we are be diluting things (Making it weaker) so that it has less concentration. Our experiment is called a serial dilution

What we used:

six test tubes 
Measuring cylinder 
tweezers 
Potassium Permanganate Crystal 
Plastic transfer pipette 
Test tube rack 

Hypothesis:

I think it will become a very light shade of purple because when it starts it starts out purple so it may just become a lighter shade of purple 

Method:
1. place the six test tubes in a test tube rack.

2. Fill 1 with 10mls of water full remaining with 5mls of water

3.using your tweezers, add a single crystal of potassium permangate to test tube 1 

4. gently shake the test tube until the crystal has dissolved 

5. using the transfer pipette carefully remove exactly 5ml from test tube 1 and pour it into test tube 2

6. Rinse the transfer pipette thoroughly to ensure that so purple solution remains 

7. gently shake test tube 2 and repeat the transfer process, transferring exactly 5ml of solution from test tube 2 to test tube 3

8. Rinse the pipette and repeat the transfer process for test tube 4,5, and 6 



Observation and discussion:

Once we did it it started off at a dark purple and at the end it became clear again. Test tube one was the most concentrated because it had more particals and number 6 test tube was more clear because it had less particals so it was more dilute.

Science- Filtration

 Hey everyone welcome back today in science we are learning about filtering, we will be learning about some of the key words then we will be doing a experiment. I hope you enjoy My Blog have a wonderful day Good-Bye 

Key words:
Filtering- Separating things based on their size. It only works if we have different sized particles. in other words only insoluble particles can be used while filtering. 

Experiment:

In today's Experiment we will be making a mixture then separating it 

Chemicals we used:
A chemical named Copper Sulfate Which is light blue, it a liquid and its transparent
We also used a Chemical called sodium carbonate which is Colourless its a liquid and its translucent

What we used:
Conical flask
Funnel
Beaker 
Filter Paper
String rod 

Hypothesis:
I think it might separate because they are both two different chemicals so they might have different things in it. I think we will have a mixture of colours when we combine them and when we separate them they will go a lighter shade of the colour it turns when we mix it 

Method:

1. Pour approximately 50mL of copper sulfate solution into a beaker.

2. Add the same volume of sodium carbonate solution. A reaction will happen, you should see a cloudy blue precipitate form. Called copper carbonate. 

3. Watch demo then fold filter paper to fit inside the funnel

4. Place the funnel with the filter paper inside of it, into the mouth of a conical flask. 

5. Stir the mixture in the beaker, then carefully pour it into the funnel.  6. Observe what happened


Observation and discussion:

When we were mixing the chemicals they became a dark blue and we couldn't see through it and then when we were filtering it we went clear and see through. At the end the two chemicals swapped so the copper sulfate became copper carbonate which is what stayed at the top and didn't go through the filter and the sodium carbonate became sodium sulfate.

Our experiment

3 ways we can speed up dissolving
1. heat things up 
2. make them smaller

When we did the experiment 
we had 3 beakers. two of them had warm water in them and one other had cold water in it. once we had all the water we put a teaspoon of sugar in them and then we had to leave one warm water one to see how long it took and stir the other two. the fastest one to dissolve was the warm water one.

Hurumanu 4 Story

 Hey everyone in Hurumanu 4 we have been writing a story to go along with our art and I have now finished my story so I've decided to publish it to my blog so you guys can tell me what you liked about it.Thank you for viewing my blog. I hope you have a good day Good-Bye 

💚𝓜𝔂 𝓼𝓽𝓸𝓻𝔂💚

It was Nikki’s first day ever at Hogwarts as she just transferred. She had to go

to the sorting hat to find out what house she would be in. This is what the hat

said, “Brave like a Gryffindor, ambitions a Slytherin, I think I’m going to put

you in Slytherin.” All the slytherin went crazy for their new house member.

There was one seat left on the table next to  the one and only Draco Malfoy

so she went and sat there. 



It was later in the night and Nikki was in the Slytherin rooms studying for her

classes the next day. Then behind her before she noticed Draco was next to

her and studying with her. Then he starts the conversation 

“Hey Nikki, welcome to our house. If you have any questions or issues come

find me or one of the other members.” Draco told Nikki

 “Okay thank you.” Nikki replied back.”

“Well I’m going to go to bed now so I can get some sleep for tomorrow.”

Nikki told Draco 

“Okay have a good sleep.” Draco replied


The next day Nikki gets up, has a shower and then gets ready for the day,

all before she has to meet in the Great Hall. Once she has had her shower

and gotten ready for the day she walks down to the Great Hall then Harry

runs up to her and starts talking to her. 

“Hey Nikki.” Harry said 

“Oh hi, um, your Harry right?” Nikki replied to him 


“Yeah I am. Nice to meet you” Harry said to Nikki. 


“Nice to meet you Harry, I’ve got to go and get ready for Dumbledore to get here.” 

Nikki said

 “Okay Bye Nikki.” Harry said as Nikki was walking off to the Slytherin table. 


Dumbledore comes in and does his speech and then we all get to eat our food

that had been prepared for us. Once the bell rings for our first class all of Gryffindor and

Slytherin go to ‘Defence

Against the Dark’ for our first class. Harry ran up to Nikki

 “Nikki Wait up!” Harry said 


“Oh hey Harry. What's wrong?” Nikki replied 


“I need to tell you something but I don’t know how to say it.” Harry said 

“Okay well spit it out.” Nikki said, 

“Okay Well I like you Nikki and not in a friend way.” Harry told Nikki. 

“Oh um well I-I’ve got to go.” Nikki said as she ran away. 

“Nikki, what happened?” Draco said. 

“Oh, um something Harry told me and it caught me off guard, so I kinda

you know left.” Nikki said. 

“Oh wow! Just ignore him and hang out with me today okay.” Draco told Nikki, 

“Okay.” 


Nikki and Draco were sitting in class and Harry and Draco get pulled up

to show there recently  learnt defence skills quickly Draco knocked Harry to

the floor and says

 “WHY DID YOU TELL NIKKI YOU LIKED HER WHEN YOU KNEW I DID!

Angrily draco said to Harry 

Nikki quickly thought, “Oh no now draco likes me as well” but continued 

watching the fight.

 “ I TOLD YOU I WAS GOING TO TELL HER!” Harry screamed back.

Quickly the teachers broke up this argument and draco said 

“This isn’t over Pottah.” 

“Never in a million years Malfoy.” Harry said back to Draco.

This was when Nikki knew there was going to be an issue. 



Nikki Calms Draco down before the bell rings for their next class

which is potions so Nikki and Draco walk to their class while Harry

walks with his friends. Once they get to class they take their seats,

and wait for Professor Snape to get to the classroom. Suddenly he

arrives and tells us to start our class. Draco and Nikki were partners in

the class so they had to work together. While in class Harry was planning

how to get Nici to himself and have Draco with no chance to get with her

ever. 


It's now lunchtime and they all get to go out of the school grounds so Nikki,

Draco and Harry all go to A park to just hang out and get ready for their next

class room. But that's when Draco and Harry have another argument that

Nikki can’t stop this time. Nikki Starts to get really worried and tries to get

them to stop but this time it's not possible. 



WHY DO YOU ALWAYS LIKE ALL THE PEOPLE I LIKE!

Draco screamed at Harry. 

I LIKED HER FIRST!” Harry Screamed back, 

GUYS STOP THIS, IT’S NOT WORTH IT!” Nikki screamed at the two boys. 

 Before we knew it Harry had Draco down on the ground yelling all different

types of spells but then Draco got up and screamed out a random spell and

then before we knew it Harry was on the floor and couldn’t get up. 


Draco had taken out the win and then Nikki and Draco went off and lived

a happy life together and Harry's broken hearted once again.
