Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day One Activity 2

Hey everyone welcome back for the next few weeks i will be doing the summer learning journey and I will be posting all the activity's I do. Today Is Week 1 Day 1 and this activity is The second activity.( I did this activity on wensday the 16th because I wasn't able to do it on the 14th) I hope you enjoy these blog posts and let me know if I could do anything better. Thank you, Have a good Day, Good-Bye

So for this activity I decided to make a Butterfly.
To make this I went around the front and back of my house and found leaves that could be useful and then I also found some sticks. Once I had all my items I got one of the little sticks I had found and cut it in half to make the antennas, then I got my bigger stick and used that for the body. So then because I had found some big and small leaves I used the big ones to be the top wing, and the bottom wings are the smaller wings.

I hope you like my creation.

  1. Kia Ora Nici,

Your butterfly looks phenomenal! I love the attention to detail you have included! The antenna look great and I like that the top wings are bigger than the bottom as it’s more realistic.

I love butterflies, they’re my favourite insect. I live in Dunedin and we have a butterfly exhibit at the museum here. It’s in a super warm room and there’s a waterfall through the middle. The butterflies all flutter round freely, and eat from all the flowers growing in there. It’s amazing. I once even had a butterfly land on me! What’s your favourite insect?

What are you going to name your creation? What other insects could you make from nature?

    Keep up the great work!

    Ka kite anō,

Ive always wanted to vist that exhibit because it sound like a fun place to go. I favorite insects are butterflys and Ladybugs their really cool.

I'm not sure what I will name my creation do you have any ideas I could use?

    2. Kia ora Nici,

What a cheeky dog! What’s his/her name? Do you have any other pets?

It’s such a fun exhibit, I highly recommend it! It’s also attached to a science exhibit where you can see how science works in mini experiments!

I like funny names. So I’d probably name it something funny but try to make it sound scientific like Leafopolic Rhopalocera with the second part being the scientific name for butterflies. Personally, I think he looks like a Fred though.

My favourite part about Dunedin is all the other students. There are heaps of other people my age to make friends with which is cool! I’m from a small town so it was a pleasant change! What’s your favourite part about where you live?

      Have a fantastic day!

    3. Hi Shannon

I have two dogs One boy one girl the boys name is Joey and the girl one is called Andi and I have one cat.

That sound really cool maybe one day I could convince my family for a road trip to go see it.

It would be cool to name it a funny name but it could also be a fred. I'm not quiet sure.

My favorite part about Christchurch Is that all the schools help you with your learning and all the opportunity's you can get.

      Have a amazing day

    2. Hi Nici,

That sounds so cool! What's your favourite animal at Orana Park? And your favourite activity at the Antarctic centre?

We're going to Okarito this year and we'll probably go kayaking and have some bonfires to roast marshmallows and make smores!

      Bye for now,
