Punctuation

Punctuation Video: 
So I had to watch a video before we went into it and started out work and the video Miss Birtch assigned to us is how to use quotation marks, it taught us that when a person is speaking you use them when you are listing things you use them (Example: Tommy liked many songs like "Thriller," "Shallow," and   "Happier"). 


Punctuation Worksheets:
After we had watched the video we had to do a couple of work sheets. In my worksheets I had to Re-write each sentence that was given to me and add commas, then in the second worksheet I had to decided if the quotation marks were put correctly if not I had to re write them.

Rewrite each sentence below adding commas in the correct place 




  1. “You are looking in the wrong direction” The detective said
    Answer: “You are looking in the wrong direction,” The Detective said.

  2. His favorite old televisions shows are “I Love Lucy” “Batman” and “Bonanza”
    Answer: His Favorite old television shows are “I Love Lucy,” “Batman”, And “Bonanza.”

  3. “If you want to go outside” Said Mrs. Clark “You must wear your raincoats”
    Answer: “If you want to go outside”, Said Mrs.Clark, “You must wear your raincoats.”

  4. “Yes, it’s an important clue” replied Vance “But more important is the time of the call”
    Answer: “Yes, it is an important clue”, Replied Vance, “But, more important is the time of the call.”

  5. “Rarely” the doctor observed “Has anyone survived such a fall”
    Answer: “Rarely,” the doctor observed “Has anyone, survived such a fall.”

  6. At camp we sang “ Daisy, Daisy” “Oh Susannah” And “Skip to My Lou”
    Answer:At camp we sang “Daisy,Daisy”, “Oh Susannah”, And “Skip to My Lou.”

Decide if the Quotation marks are used properly 


  1. My favorite “Christmas Carol is Silent Night”
    Answer: No it’s Not it should be written like this- My favorite Christmas carol is “Silent Night.”

  2. The Poem he chose to read was “Ode to a Grecian Urn”
    Answer:It is correct how it is. 

  3. The title of the next chapter is “Tough” Luck
    Answer” No It’s not it should be written like this- The title of the next chapter is “Tough Luck.”

  4. “Have Funds, Will Travel” was the most useful article in the newspaper
    Answer: is correct as it is.

  5. Michael Jackson’s song “Thriller was a hit” in the 1980’s
    Answer:No it’s not it should be written like this- Michael Jackson’s song “Thriller” was a hit the the 1980’s. 

  6. “Earthquake” Terror is a story in our reading textbook
    Answer: No it’s not it should be written like this- “Earthquake Terror” is a story in our reading textbook.

  7. King Midas and the Golden Touch “is one of the myths in our textbook”
    Answer: No it’s not it should be written like this- “King Midas and the Golden Touch” is one of the Myths in our textbook

  8. The Beatles Can’t “Buy Me” love hit the top of the song chart when it came out
    Answer: No It’s not it should be written like this- The Beatles “Can’t Buy Me” love hit the top of the song chart when it came out.


Punctuation Kahoot:
After I did the worksheets I had to do a Kahoot for it, In the Kahoot it was a whole bunch of questions about what we have already learnt, there were 14 questions and I got 8 right, some of the questions included asking us which option was written correctly, and more. 




Groups 

We all were put in groups and I got put in the Semicolon which looks like this ; for those of you that are not sure.
